I was diagnosed with cervical cancer in 2023 the treatment and care I received by all involved was brilliant! Couldn’t thank everyone enough. Gynaecology department oncology department. Radiotherapy team. Chemotherapy team. Reception teams, mri & ct scanning teams. Everyone made me feel important. It made my whole experience a lot less scary.

A recent visit to A and E before moving onto the wards A and E new building was very confusing for my mum as is part of a generation that are regularly attending as getting older. Lovely pod but mum confused as no-one else about (pods great for privacy or for family’s receiving bad news)almost like a home setting and when being moved got very upset and difficult to manage. Then being put on a ward was stubborn and rude, accusing people of taking belongings, refusing food and not communicating completely out of character. Listening to elderly patients all showing similar symptoms and behaviours. Maybe A and E should have remained for the elderly for more years as would have helped patients., members of staff and family as would make the visit and transitions easier for all. The ratio on the wards was one nurse to ten patients unfair on everyone, add agitated patients and overworked staff and not pleasant environment for anyone Cleaning not done even though beds and patients moved regularly As a family member every time we come in and support mum we know we will be ill, no different this time Mum eventually ended up on E3 by pure fluke as should have been on a G ward E3 matron and staff are such a pleasant team Professional. Caring. Vigilant, Listeners, and Passionate about care and importantly all done with a smile. Spoke clearly at eye level to patients and made them feel truly valued , Thankyou E3 Management maybe need to walk the floors and wards more I could spend far more time on critic but the staff are doing their best but as it is what ever they do it will not be enough

They kept me all night. They abused Me. They did not do an ultrasound for deep vein thrombosis when I presented with dimpled edema and a severely swollen right leg and pain in my chest and shortness of breath. They labeled me of least concern in triage though I had been sent to them from St. Mary's hospital telling them I was an emergency case. I had a severe kidney infection and what the doctor at St Mary's believes is congestive heart failure. I waited 9 Hours and saw a nurse " blossom" and no doctor. She was dressed in green and she did not allow me to see my blood results or my chest x-ray. She did not punch my calf to see if I had pain she did not address the blood clot at all or the fact that one leg was severely swollen. I was not allowed to see a doctor and I was harassed for asking to see a doctor before several staff members. The nurses were rude as was the registration and triage put someone with chest pain and a lung lower respiratory problem couples with a swollen leg and edema dimpled to the calves as " low priority " people laughing and enjoying themselves went in and out as nd i stayed from 9 pm until 6 am without care. I was sent home with a rx for an antibiotic with my leg throbbing and a probable blood clot

I am here now. I came in from St. Mary's hospital referred with congestive heart failure and a blood clot in my leg, a kidney infection and pneumonia and I have not been seen I have been abused by staff and by cop patients. I have been marked as not a priority WITH CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE AND A Blood Clot. None of the people who were taken before me were as sick as I am all were conscious all walked in . I waited fov hours and triage put me on the least concern list. I wanted to leave and the nurse has told me I will be seen in another hour IF no one comes in " more important". They have made me feel unimportant tk them. I left my hotel unable to breathe, my heart pain chest pain worsened in the touf hours I waited. A doctor Hedwig Hansen told me I needed to be seen. And i had paperwork chowing the pneumonia blood clot and heart failure diagnoses. The " head nurse" who acted like a cop had no compassion and i was shouted at by s verbal strange men who looked like ex cops in the waiting room. I was insulted and locked in the waiting room and ignored by the triage nurses when I complained of severe chest pain. I will probably die tonight. I am an Irish and American citizen. I have been harassed by dirty cops here and denied services

Sadly today my dad age 91 had a nasty fall hurting his back, cutting and bruising his hands. He is very frail, has heart failure and dementia. I called 999 and paramedics Mia and Stu arrived in a timely manner. They were very professional but also warm, sincere and empathetic. They dressed my dad’s wounds, explained everything to us and gave us advice. They even helped me change dad’s bed sheets!! This is over and above as far as I am concerned. We really appreciate the great care he received and would like to thank these kind and wonderful people for their hard work and commitment.

The surgical care was absolutely excellent. The anaesthetist, the nurse who brought me into the theatre, the surgeon, all five star and more. Can’t speak more highly or be more grateful. However the after care was shocking. FOOD I was not offered food after the surgery, once I was back in the ward. I came back up at roughly 6pm and the food had been already served. I’d missed it apparently. My family had to bring food in that night. I filled in a form at admission to say I had a bad allergy to fruit. In the evening I was asked what I’d like for breakfast including if I’d like a bowl of fruit salad. Surely something should have been written somewhere to make sure I wasn’t offered or get fruit. Or what was the point in the admission questionnaire? WATER I had some meds brought in an hour or so after I came back to the ward and the nurse asked where my water was. There was a warm bottle of water on the window that I’d had before I went to surgery, sitting out of my reach. I got a glass of fresh water only then. We did raise this lack of basic care a few times and apparently it was my fault, I should have asked if I was hungry or thirsty. But I was full of anaesthetic and hardly conscious. It was really stressful as a patient. FAMILY CARE The ward did not answer the repeated calls from my family to the ward to say I was back safely, so they were unnecessarily beside themselves, concerned something had gone wrong. My family were really anxious. NIGHT NURSES Everything felt too much trouble early evening. I had compression boots on and couldn’t get them off to go to the loo, and the nurse seemed frustrated I’d asked for help. I will say the nurse checking on me through the night (she came on at about 10pm) was lovely, Spanish, kind and caring. PHARMACY I wanted to be discharged the following morning not feeling comfortable on the ward, when the morning shift started. However despite me being ok’d to go by 10am by the doctor, my prescription wasn’t ready until after 5pm. I sat in a ward, taking up a bed for the day because the administration was so poor. The nurses just kept saying ‘it’s always like this, the pharmacy are always slow’. DRESSING No one changed my dressing until my family visitor asked. I was covered in blood from the surgery from the previous day. Just the basics of simple nursing care got missed, over and over again.
