Because I thought that's all it warranted.
I was totally satisfied with all my treatment both during and after discharge. The NHS were excellent.
My mother is usually seen on time of her appt, her consultant always listens & discusses her condition and offers options which so far have eased my mother’s pain.
Came in with a teenage child with chest pain palpitations, been back several times over last 2 weeks still no idea as to the cause and how safe or whats the ongoing treatment plan. Feels unsafe. While staff trying to help no where capacity wise to send people, timescales far too long with no facilities to rest except chairs and windowsills for 24 hours plus. Feeling that due to wait times to see a doctor to understand any tests, people are just leaving trying to manage at home returning sicker. Hard to know even when discharged how to manage and assess risk and treat at home or when to return when follow up out patient may happen and how that treatment will take place be feed back.
The staff are very compassionate and listened to my worries and treated me with sincere kindness and respect and they were able to help me with my situation.
The person cleared explained what I need to know.
The A AND E department on Monday morning 13th January was overflowing with patients. My mum who is 90 came in with a broken arm. The trolleys were lined up end to end. It is not the fault of the staff, but the sheer number of patients. My mum has dementia and kept trying to get off the trolley. We found one plastic chair and my brother and I shared it through the night. Mum was given one dry sandwich which she couldn’t eat. One kind nurse gave us a cup of tea. One man spilled scalding tea down him and was shouting in pain, and it must have been waiting 15 mins before anyone came to help him. At about 6am someone said anyone want yea and toast, but dissappeared and nothing turned up. One man was shouting can I have something to eat I’m starving. It was 1pm the next day when my mum was put in a side ward which was better and we saw doctors who were giving her scans etc, got given another dry sandwich. I left the hospital at 4pm on Tuesday afternoon, after 29 hours with no sleep. Absolute nightmare. In no way do I blame the staff as everyone was doing their absolute best in the circumstances, but there is something seriously wrong with the system.
The department nurses spoke with me, a new trainee nurse was lovely and took time to explain what she was there for and what she was training to be.
Because I was happy with the way I was treated. With care and understanding. That was good for me.
