Good experience
My husband was taken by emergency ambulance to Leicester Royal Infirmary following an episode of slurring of his speech and disorientation. He was seen immediately, had full investigations and was treated by very caring staff who explained all procedures. After seeing the Stroke Consultant he was then discharged with a follow up appointment at the TIA clinic the next day. We were extremely satisfied with the treatment.
Staff were brilliant & made you feel very comfortable. Very chatty & pleasant personality. Not just patient & member of staff but more of a friend talking about various aspects of life past , present & future. Altogether a very pleasant experience.
My mum took herself to here as an emergency and good job she did as she needed an urgent operation on her bowel. The care was very good in intensive care but she was soon rushed out of there way to quickly to make room for others.
Her care as soon as she left IC was appauling, she would be left for hours and hours with no one tending to her, if she asked for anything it would take over 2 hours to come.
She had random drains in her stomach that no one knew what they were for, leaking fluid everywhere and she was just given a towel to sit on.
The surgeons that saw her for her aftercare were extremely rude and condescending.
I was so worried that she would die there from a blood clot with no one attending to her that I had to ring the main staff nurse.
Everytime i visited nurses were just sat around, drippy as anything, chatting away. I would plead with them to see my mum who was lying there in her own waste in agony and honestly it was like no one gave a damn. She also caught covid there and was moved to a rehibiliation hospital in coalville that was amazing, but she brought Covid to their ward because LRI never checked my mum for this before moving her over. This gave them much more cleaning to do once my mum was with them.
I see why so many people die here, the lack of empathy and care is below the lowest standard, go private if you can and never come here. You'll leave with more issues than when you came in. I am disgusted that these standards remain in this day and age
Waited 3/4 hours for a scan, ambulance did not arrive for pick-up another 6 hours later. Nothing was offered to an elderly patient who was going in and out of fainting.
I had my surgery and respective aftercare at Leicester Royal Infirmary, the staff there was very warm and professional in all aspects of my care which gave me full confidence in treatment being provided.
I had to wait 7.5 hrs for the tramadol that the surgical team said I needed I was deeply upset and asked to come home
Thank you so much for taking great care of my Mum over the weekend. Paramedics Libby, Drew and student Ellie were just fabulous with her. My Mum is 82 and hasn’t been in hospital for over 40 years and they were very kind and patient with her explaining all her options and helping her feel confident that a trip to hospital was the best decision. We had the obvious predicable waiting yet all the team were so kind and made sure she was drinking and eating for the hours we were there. Blue team on Saturday evening you were excellent! Both my Mum and I felt she was treated very thoroughly with kindness respect and care. She feels much better today thanks to you all. X
